Lebole Maison is pleased to present a project created in collaboration with Galleria Borghese .
Located inside the park of the Villa of the same name, Galleria Borghese houses an extensive collection of sculptures, bas-reliefs and ancient mosaics, as well as paintings and sculptures from the 15th to the 18th century. The collection, initially established by Cardinal Scipione Borghese at the beginning of the 17th century, contains masterpieces by Antonello da Messina, Giovanni Bellini, Raphael, Titian, Correggio, Caravaggio and splendid sculptures by Gian Lorenzo Bernini and Canova.
The most important nucleus of sculptures and paintings in the Gallery dates back to the collecting of Cardinal Scipione (1579-1633), son of Ortensia Borghese, sister of Pope Paul V, and of Francesco Cappellolli.
Cardinal Scipione's attention was directed to all the expressions of ancient, Renaissance and contemporary art, capable of recalling a new golden age. Not particularly interested in medieval art, he instead passionately pursued ancient sculpture.
For Galleria Borghese Lebole creates a line of eight pairs of earrings that reproduce some of the masterpieces on display : Sacred and Profane Love by Titian, Diana's Hunt by Domenichino, Boy with a Basket of Fruit by Caravaggio, Flowers and Butterflies by Aelst Willem Van, Apollo and Daphne by Bernini, Paolina Bonaparte Borghese by Antonio Canova, subjects Dogs/Parrots and Lions/Monkeys inspired by the paintings in room IV, the Hall of the Emperors.
The earrings are made with flat capsules printed on tinplate, mounted in gold-plated brass and natural stones. The flat caps used are nothing more than the metal disks found in the upper part of the cage that holds the corks of the champagne bottles before being stuffed.
The jewels are rigorously worked and produced in Italy.
The sale is reserved exclusively to the Galleria Borghese bookshop.
